Lately, I’m totally falling for the amazing dreamy, old school, atmospheric effects of Lomography. Now first check this little collage made of Tumblr photos to get an idea of what I mean. After that I will tell you all about it and show more Lomography photos!
Lomography is an analogue way of photograpy going by the motto “Don’t think, just shoot!” The idea is spontaneously shooting photos and letting the Lomography effects do their job. Lomography also has 10 rules…
- Take your camera everywhere you go.
- Use it any time, day and night.
- Lomography is not an interference in your life, but a part of it.
- Try shots from the hip.
- Approach the objects of your Lomographic desire as close as possible.
- Don’t think.
- Be fast.
- You don’t have to know beforehand what you captured on film.
- Afterwards either.
- Don’t worry about any of the rules.
There are a lot of different Lomography cameras out there. There are the ones with the fish eye effect (like the second from above in the below collage), cameras that create a very dreamy or mysterious effect, ones with vignetting effects and cameras that make colours pop out more. You also can get wide-angle lenses for your Lomography camera, which can also create wonderful effects.
I actually like all the different effects that are out there, but my favorite one has to be the dreamy/mysterious effect. It gives a photo just so much atsmosphere! I love it. I’m really hoping Santa will get me a Diana Mini.
What do you think of Lomography? Are you a Lomographer? If so, do you have any tips? Just let me know in the comments!
