This is my fourth and last travel diary of my vacation to Italy. On one of our last days there, we did a day trip to the Vesuvius volcano and we walked the path up to the crater. From the top, you have a gorgeous view over the Amalfi coast and Naples area. It’s so high, you can see all of Naples city, the entire bay of Naples and some of the small islands! The walk to the top is not that hard. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes, it’s not that steep and you don’t need to climb any rocks or anything. But you will be able to see that all for yourself in the pictures below!
Highlight of this post is the fact that I was able to capture some smoke coming from the crater! Woo! If you’re ever in the area of Naples, I really recommend you to this! At least, I felt like I couldn’t leave without seeing this well known volcano from the top. The volcano is still active, but the last eruption was in 1944 and they are measuring the activity 24/7. So there’s nothing to be afraid of! What do you think of these photos? And did you ever visit a volcano?
