On the fourth day of Amsterdam Fashion Week, I went to a grand total of three shows. And I thought it would be fun to make a vlog out of this! The vlog is about 5 minutes, and it’s filled with footage I shot at the shows of Tailor & Elbaz, Susana Bettencourt and Monique Collignon Couture Light. Especially the last show I think was great to film rather than photograph, because some of the models had a whole choreography! For those of you who rather see pictures, I also added some shots of my favorite looks from all three shows. And of course, I’m also sharing some background info about the collections! What do you think of the video? And which of the designs appeals to you most?

The collection of Tailor & Elbaz is called ‘Queen of Hearts’ and is inspired by this character in Alice in Wonderland. The entire runway was transformed into an Alice in Wonderland scene, with grass, huge flowers and mushrooms, and there were multiple Alice in Wonderland characters walking around in the fashion week area before the show. I thought this was so much fun, because Alice in Wonderland was one of my favorite movies as a child! There are elements of the movie in the clothing as well, like prints with the symbols of playing cards and cute blue dresses. My personal favorites from this collection are the blue checked trenchcoat (only in the video, not in the photos) and some of the midi skirts!
Susana Bettencourt’s SS16 collection is called ‘Ways of Seeing’. She was inspired by the idea that everyone has a different view on the world. She combines technology with hand-craft knitwear. And I’m really so excited about her knitwear designs! I really love to see knitting used for different clothing styles than sweaters. And she makes the most amazing creations of it! My favorites from this collection are the grey and pastel yellow knit dress and co-ord set and the knitted off shoulder sweater (only in the video)!
Monique Collignon had two shows this fashion week. I posted my report of her haute couture show last sunday. The show on day four was the ‘Couture Light’ version, and was full of wearable summer items and flat shoes. The inspiration behind the collection was all about the four elements, and plastic recycling. The Couture Light collection consists of a whole bunch of dresses for several occasions and all ages. Fun detail: all the items have a label in it which says how many plastic bottles are processed in the design. My favorites from this collection are the red and blue midi dress with ruffles, the lace A-line dresses and the silver sequin jumpsuit!
