In the blog post series ‘Talking Style With…’ I’m interviewing fellow bloggers about their style. And I ask them for tips of fun unknown shops, and how to find your own style! Obviously, Suzanne Brummel had to be in this series as well. Since about two months, we regularly shoot our outfits together! So, time to get to know her and her style a little better!
1. How would you describe your style?
I actually don’t really have one style. I like sporty, but also feminine and sexy. I think, as an independent strong woman, it’s imporant to be able to show your confidence and be yourself in the outfit you’re wearing. So, I always try to dress sporty casual, because I’m a sporty girl, but to also always add something feminine. This can be done by wearing a dress or skirt, but also by wearing certain jewelry or high heels. Details really make the difference! The one day, my outfit is more casual, and the other day it’s more sexy or feminine.
2. What can visitors expect when they land on your blog?
Visitors can expect an outfit post on both wednesday and saturday, in which I will tell something about the items I’m wearing, how you could also wear it, and why I chose for that combination of items. And every two weeks, you will find a work-out/sports post on saturday, instead of the regular outfit post. Mostly, those posts are about work-outs which you can easily do at home. And I hope they inspire people to go for a healthier lifestyle. I would like to do more with sports, but at the moment I will stick to every two weeks on saturday.
3. What’s on top of your wishlist?
I would love to have a pair of Puma sneakers from the Rihanna collection. Not that special, but they really stole my heart, hihi. Only… they are sold out everywhere! #cry
4. What’s your favorite go-to outfit?
A black pair of skinny jeans, with a casual blouse, over which I would wear an oversized sweater when it’s colder. And to finish it off; a pair of comfortable fashionable sneakers.
5. Who’s your biggest (fashion) inspiration or example?
I don’t really have one big example. Fashion isn’t about good or wrong, or pretty or ugly. It’s really personal. It about what YOU like. I just wear what I like, and I think in that way, everyone who does that is my example or inspiration. To me it doesn’t matter if someone has a totally different style than me. As long as they are being theirself, and have their own idea about what they wear, than I think that’s really cool! If you want to be like someone else, you often lose yourself.
6. Which item in your closet is your absolute favorite?
My Suede Biker Jacket from Everydaycounts from the picture above. It’just perfect!
7. Any smaller or unknown brands we need to know about?
I really like Everydaycounts in Amsterdam! Also, I really like to go second hand shopping every once and a while. In Amsterdam, you have Episode (the valhalla of second hand clothes and accessories, O-M-G!) But it can also be really fun to go to smaller second hand stores in the Netherlands. These shoes (my all time favorite boat shoes!, see picture below) are from a small second hand shop in a small farmers village.
And Paperbird Conceptstore. This is a very cute shop in Utrecht, which you just have to go to. The store itself already makes me really happy. The beautiful interior, and the amazing clothes and accessories. Very on trend, and also very important; affordable!
8. What is your favorite trend at the moment?
OVERSIZED!! Definitely! Wide, big, really warm, mmmm great trend! In the photo below, I’m wearing an oversized striped sweater over an oversized blouse. And I’m also wearing an oversized coat with it. Yep, I’m totally into the oversized trend!
9. And last, but not least, any tips for people who are currently figuring out their own style?
Like I said before, try to just be yourself. Stay close to who you are. Are you not a girly-girl, and do you not like heels or skirts? Then don’t buy them! Don’t wear anything to be part of something, or because a cool person wears it too. You are you, and as long as you wear something which fits your lifestyle and in which you feel comfortable, then you will find your own style in the end. And more importantly; don’t let other peoples opinions guide you. Who cares? It’s your life! :)
