In the blog post series ‘Talking Style’ I’m interviewing fellow bloggers about their style. And I ask them for tips of fun unknown shops, and how to find your own style! This time, I’m talking style with Nathalie Kemna! So, time to get to know her and her style a little better!
1. How would you describe your style?
My style actually really depends on my mood… I prefer to wear a huge oversized sweater, but sometimes I also like to wear a feminine skirt. Actually, my style is very simple and casual. It really has to be comfortable, otherwise I don’t want to wear it for longer than an hour. Next to that, my outfits are never too girly. I like to wear a cute skirt every once and a while, but I would combine them with edgy boots or an oversized sweater. That’s just more me, and it’s what I feel most comfortable in. Oh, and I never really wear bright colors. I’m more into the basic colors.
2. What can visitors expect when they land on your blog?
I think the only certain thing my visitors can expect, is that I’m always honest and myself. Other than that, I really like to try out new things, so it can be a real surprise what I post.
3. What’s on top of your wishlist?
Oh, difficult! When I’m in the city, I’ll be saying “I want this, and I want this, and this!” all the time. But when I have to say what’s on top of my wishlist, I find it hard. The only thing I’m really looking for is a thick knitted black cardigan. So, if you have any tips, let me know!
4. What’s your favorite go-to outfit?
All black. Black is always a good idea, and I always feel good in it. And I like to wear my camel coat over it.
5. Who’s your biggest (fashion) inspiration or example?
I don’t really have one person I look up to when it comes to fashion. I mostly look on Pinterest and on the street for inspiration. But next to fashion, my friends are my biggest inspiration. My friends are all amazing women, each with their own personality and style. I look up to all of them, and I think we all help each other to be the best versions of ourselves, and that’s what I find inspiring.
6. Which item in your closet is your absolute favorite?
Can I PLEASEEE name 2?! :D I bought a super thick sweater in sale last summer, with ‘it-might-cool-down-tonight-so-I-need-a-sweater’ as the reason, and this seriously became my new favorite sweater! Along with a dark blue cashmere sweater I bought in a vintage store. I live in those things!
7. Any smaller or unknown brands we need to know about?
Oh, tough one! I didn’t know Subdued at first, but they became kind of big. I really like them! Choies (online) is nice too, and Sam Friday for underwear and chill clothing. Next to that, I mostly go to vintage stores.
8. What is your favorite trend at the moment?
Is it bad that I don’t really follow the trends? I wear/buy just what I like and what I bump into, without thinking about whether it’s a trend… Oh, I do really think that those denim jackets with the fluffy inside are a great invention!
9. And last, but not least, any tips for people who are currently figuring out their own style?
Yes, make a Pinterest board and pin everything you like. From this you can deduce what style you like. And once you figured that out a little, you can start looking for clothing items in that style and try them on to see if you feel comfortable in them. Really, the most important thing I think, is that you feel good in your outfit, and that you are happy about your look. You will feel a lot more confident and this will also show, and that’s what’s truly beautiful!
