In the blog post series ‘Talking Style’ I’m interviewing fellow bloggers about their style. And I ask them for tips of fun unknown shops, and how to find your own style! This time, I’m talking style with Tara from The Profashional! So, time to get to know her and her style a little better!
1. How would you describe your style?
This is actually quite a tough question for me. My style is casual, but feminine. But it’s not typical girly-girl. I hardly ever wear high heels or dresses. I like to wear dark colors, like black and grey, but I also really like beige, khaki and burgundy. At the moment, I’m really into long coats, oversized tops and sweaters, and skinny jeans. Also, I’m a big fan of hats.
2. What can visitors expect when they land on your blog?
Most of my content consists of outfit posts. This is what I like most making for my blog. Next to that, I also show what I like (for example by means of a wishlist), what I’m doing (in my Instagram Diaries) and I often post a nice give away.
3. What’s on top of your wishlist?
I would like to extend my spring wardrobe. The last few months, I’ve been shopping a lot of winter items, like turtleneck sweaters. Now that spring is coming, and I’m spotting more and more nice spring collections in stores. I would like to wear more skirts this spring.
4. What’s your favorite go-to outfit?
At the moment, that would be a long coat with a turtleneck sweater and skinny jeans. I would wear a cool pair of ankle boots with that, and accessorize it with a hat. In spring, I like to go for a top with a skirt, and over knee boots more often.
5. Who’s your biggest (fashion) inspiration or example?
I follow a ton of bloggers, and next to that I read a lot of magazines. Also on social media (Instagram, Facebook) I get inspired by women with nice outfits, on a daily basis. I can’t really name one person as my example, but I get inspired by dozens of women, online and in magazines.
6. Which item in your closet is your absolute favorite?
Even though it was too cold for it in winter, I’m going for my leather jacket. I can’t wait to wear it again. I bought it a long time ago at Mango, bt I still like it so much. It’s very edgy and timeless. I’m sure I will still like it in a couple of years.
7. Any smaller or unknown brands we need to know about?
I don’t know if this is an unknown brand, or that I was just very late to the party, but I recently discovered Public Desire. A webshop with very affordable shoes. The shoes are very on trend. I fell in love with at least 10 pairs.
8. What is your favorite trend at the moment?
I really like the long boots which rise over the knee. They usually look very sexy, but they’re also quite practical. You can wear all your short skirts and dresses, even when it’s a bit colder outside. So, I will certainly be doing that this spring!
9. And last, but not least, any tips for people who are currently figuring out their own style?
I often experienced a period in which I had to reinvent my own style. I think your style keeps changing over the years. I would say: try a lot. Just go into a fitting room with clothing pieces which you like, but which you usually wouldn’t buy for yourself. Try it on, and be open to change and have fun with it.
